AGOLDE
AGOLDE has unquestionably been my go-to denim brand for the past year. I have a pair of their criss-cross jeans -that I wear at least twice-a-week- and the amount of questions and compliments I get about them is unparalleled.
After quickly realizing my obsession with the brand, I then spotted this jumpsuit {April 2019} only to realize it had been sold out for months. Luckily, Net-A-Porter alerted me when it came back and stock and shortly thereafter, it was mines for the taking. It’s by far one of my best purchases of 2019 and though I can only wear it during the colder months, -the denim is pretty thick and heavy,- I know I’ll get a ton of wear out of it for the remainder of winter and seasons to come.

Here we are again. Another month later and another life update. So, where do I begin? I’ve been in New York just under 2 months now and though this picture was only taken a week ago, it’s all but 70 today. Winter weather is definitely setting in and if i’m just being honest, I’m not ready: mentally or physically.
I told myself that before I buy anymore “cute” clothes, I’d need to invest in some REAL winter essentials again. I.E., wool beanies, fleece-lined tights and of course, everyone’s favorite Uniqlo heat tech turtlenecks. It all sounds so boring but nothing sucks more than walking outside and the cold ripping straight through your “super cute” outfit. Been there. Done that. And issa no for me dawg.
And the apartment you ask? It’s slowly coming together and that’s exactly how I want it to be. I’ve intentionally taken my time in decorating because 1. I’m on a budget and 2. I want every piece to truly reflect my style and aesthetic. I’ve been sourcing a lot more vintage and thrifted pieces and finding the right piece, in the right condition and at the right price takes time. ALOT of time! But if you follow me on Instagram then you’ll continue to see apartment updates and if you don’t then well, you won’t. : )

so, i MOVED TO nEW York
Yup, you read that correctly. I finally moved to New York. And I say finally bc it’s been a goal of mine for about two years now. For those who may not know, I went to college in Washington, DC and always knew I was going to move to New York, but it was just a matter of time. NOTE TO SELF: All good things takes time. Nonetheless, I’ve been here for a little over a week and thought I’d share a few things I’ve quickly learned since relocating.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, stay ready. Nothing more, nothing less.
Pack everything. And. I. Literally. Mean. EVERYTHING. Running errands? Cool! Just make sure you’ve got water, snacks, a rechargeable battery, an umbrella and a change of clothes AND shoes just in case something pops off. Why? Because we stay ready!
Buy a cart. Like, yesterday! I knew it was “a thing” to have one of those metal carts that holds groceries, packages, etc, but didn’t realize just HOW crucial it was until I found myself on a 30-minute walk carrying 3 heavy bags with a slightly-injured shoulder. The following day, I made my way to my new favorite dollar store -that’s not REALLY a dollar store- and dropped $60 on a brand new cart. Best money spent yet.
You will get lost. Accept it.
Patience really is a virtue. I’ve been working on having more patience across the board in my life but it’s something I’ve had to remind myself of even more while adjusting to a new city. I can’t begin to tell you the mission I was on the other day simply trying to return a few Amazon packages and because I have yet to buy a printer, the hassle of trying to find somewhere to print was literally insane. However, I give myself props myself because though I was annoyed, I remained calm and yes, patient and simply revised the plan.
LESSON: Life will often force you revise the plan. Just go with it.
It’s ok to treat yourself to a vanilla chai latte from Dunkin Donuts if you feel like you need a moment because listen, we all need a moment.
The list could go on but for now, I’ll stop here. Be sure to follow along on IG as I’ll continue to share bits-and-pieces of this new life in New York.
